The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Young, who had a dominant season at Iowa Western College and is rated the nation’s No. 1 weakside junior-college defensive end by 247Sports.com, is expected to visit U of L immediately after visits to Iowa State and Ole Miss. A native of Des Moines, he was committed to the University of Iowa as a high school senior last year but had his scholarship offer pulled for off-the-field issues. He’s bounced back with a superb year for Iowa Wesleyan, making 44 tackles, including 22 for loss (13.5 sacks).

Young told Rivals.com (subscriber link) this week that U of L, Ole Miss and Iowa, which has made him a new offer, are his top three options.

U of L will also get official visits from these Class of 2014 commitments: wide receiver Isaiah Ford and offensive lineman Kavaris Harkless, both of Trinity Christian, Jacksonville, Fla.; multipositional athlete Cameron Polk, Hamilton Southeastern, Fishers, Ind.; and running back L.J. Scott, Harding, Marion, Ohio.
